Are The Guardians Of The Galaxy Coming To Epcot?

There have been many rumours coming from WDWNT, that a Guardians of the Galaxy attraction is coming to Epcot.  There has been two different attractions that have been rumoured to be replaced with a new Marvel attraction, Mission: Space and The Universe of Energy.    Originally it seemed as if Mission: Space might get a retheme, similar to the new Frozen Ever After, but that attraction is apparently getting a “lavish update” and now it looks the Universe of Energy attraction will be replaced.

The new Guardians of the Galaxy attraction is apparently already approved and plans are underway.   It’s not yet known if the building will be gutted or just demolished to make way  for the Guardians, as this building has been home to the Universe of Energy since the park opened in 1982, though it has had some updates over time.

So we could very easily see Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket Raccoon and Groot take on Ronan in Epcot soon, it’s rumoured the attraction will close this fall.

Disney haven’t confirmed this rumour and there is also the big issue of Universal’s contract with Marvel, which seems like the Guardians of the Galaxy characters aren’t included in the deal, like the Fantastic Four, X-Men, Spider-Man and the Avengers and they can’t use the term Marvel to promote, but they are selling Marvel merchandise in Disney Springs, however the word Marvel is never used.  Also both Gamora and Star-Lord have appeared at a meet and greet event in Hollywood Studios.  It’s certainly a complex deal and it could be an interesting development if this rumour is true.
