Review: Muppets Minimates Series 2 (Diamond Select) + GIVEAWAY!
UPDATE: Congrats to Amanda Welker for winning the contest! Amanda, please chack your email on file. Thank you to everyone who entered.
A few months ago, I took a look at the debut series of Diamond Select Toys’ Muppets Minimates Series 1. Today, here is a look at Series 2 of the line, which arrived in stores in June. NOTE: This is only the regular assortment of Series 2. Toys ‘R’ Us locations got a completely different assortment containing a lot of exclusives. This regular assortment is being sold in comic book and specialty stores.
As with most of the Minimates assortments, Muppets Series 2 comes with four 2pks. In this series, the two packs are as follows:
- Reporter Kermit & Rowlf
- Dr. Teeth & Animal
- Crazy Harry & Mahna Mahna
- Statler & Waldorf
The one thing I noticed off the bat with this series is that only two of the Minimates have a accessory. With Series 1, almost every Minimate had an accessory or “sidekick” in Robin and Camilla. That being said, if costs are being cut in order to extend the line (which has an already announced Series 3), I am all for that.
I am loving the selection of characters, which includes some important secondary characters in Rowlf and Animal, and a bunch of tertiary characters with the beginnings of the Electric Mayhem, the “balcony duo”, and fan favorites Crazy Harry and Mahna Mahna. While Reporter Kermit might not have been my first choice as to the Kermit in the line (I personally would love to see them delve into the Muppet Treasure Island characters), it’s a very recognizable version of Kermit, a personality he donned frequently on Sesame Street as well as throughout his Muppet career.
All in all, this is a great set, and I look forward to adding them to the rest of my Muppets Minimates. Now to track down the Toys ‘R’ Us exclusives, which feature the Pigs in Space!
Want to add these Muppets Minimates to your collection? Our friends over at Entertainment Earth have them in stock right now for you to purchase. Check them out!

Gonzo and Camilla was part of Minimates Series 1… he’s a wonderful weirdo.
Janice is coming to Series 3!
The Swedish Chef came as part of Series 1… along with a culinary catastrophe variant.
They are Sesame Street, so a little difficult seeing as they are not owned by Disney. Great idea though.
Beaker came as part of Series 1, along with a Lab Mishap variant!
She is, like, fer sure, coming is Series 3. 🙂
Beaker was part of Series 1… and he’s awesome.
The Great Gonzo variant was part of Series 1, and Guy (referred to as The Muppet Newsman) will be part of Series 3.
Oscar is Sesame Street, which would be difficult because he is not owned by Disney. However, a Sesame Street line would be awesome.
