Marvel Tsum Tsum #1 Comic Book Review

marvel tsum tsum cover

Marvel and Disney have joined together for a brand new comic book series, featuring Marvel Tsum Tsum in action and its out now in Comic Book stores and on digital platforms. We’ve seen plushes, vinyl toys, animated shorts, video games and other items get the Tsum Tsum treatment, this comic book brings together the cute and cuddly creatures in a different format, and this comic is a great way of bringing Tsum Tsum fans into the Marvel comic book universe and possibly bring some Marvel fans over to the Tsum Tsum fandom.

This issue is the first of four in the series and sets the story by giving us an origin story for Tsum Tsum’s as they crash to Earth on route to the Collector, landing in Brooklyn, and are released by a small group of teenagers. This comic gives us a pretty simple origin story and sets up the main characters quickly, and as you might expect this comic features many Marvel heroes like Iron Man and the Guardians of the Galaxy. These characters do a great job of bringing some action and instant credibility to the comic book.   I love how they feel like they have just jumped off the screen of the latest Disney cartoon, which again, fits the target audience.

I think this is a perfect crossover comic book series to bring a younger audience into the world of comic books and I’m sure some Marvel fans are going to fall in love with Tsum Tsum’s, and with the release of the Marvel Tsum Tsum mobile game coming out very soon, this is another great opportunity, which does make this whole comic book series feel like a commercial, but it has a charm to it, reminding me of reading comics as a kid.

Marvel Tsum Tsum #1 might not be for all Marvel fans, but this comic is aimed at a younger audience and I was pleasantly surprised at how they brought them into the Marvel universe. It might be a silly idea and could be seen as nothing but a promotional piece, but its a lot of fun and perfect for fans who want something light-hearted, something to enjoy with your kids and for Marvel fans who just want to enjoy the magic that reading a comic book can bring.
