Disney Working On A Live Action Version Of James & The Giant Peach

Disney are in “very early” negotiations with Sam Mendes to direct a live-action version of “James and the Giant Peach”.  The story is another Roald Dahl classic and Disney released a live action/animated version of the movie in 1996, which was produced by Tim Burton and directed by Henry Selick.

Sam Mendes has worked on a large franchise in the past including James Bond films “Spectre” and “Skyfall”.

The story is based on a 4-year-old called James Henry Trotter, who lives in England with his loving parents until his parents are killed by a rhinoceros. He’s taken in by his two cruel aunts and leaves several years later thanks to an old man giving him magic crocodile tongues which produce a massive single peach — which contains human-like insects who befriend James.

Our Take:

With so many other Roald Dhal classic stories waiting to be told, I do wish Disney would spend less time rebooting movies they’ve already done and tell new stories.

What do you think of this reboot?
