Gold Editions Of Disney Infinity 2.0 & 3.0 Coming To Steam

Following the closure of Disney Infinity, on Friday 30th September, many versions of 2.0 and 3.0 including PC, Android, IOS and Amazon removed from their stores.

Disney also announced that a Gold edition of 2.0 and 3.0 will be coming to PC later this year that will continue to be fully operational once the Disney Infinity servers are shut down.

Here is a little information on these new Gold versions:

Thank you for being an important part of the Disney Infinity digital experience and for your loyalty and dedication to the online community.

As of September 30, 2016, Disney Infinity 3.0 will remain playable but will temporarily be unavailable for new downloads. DLC purchases from the Steam storefront and in-game will also be unavailable.

If you have made any DLC purchases for Disney Infinity 3.0 (from the Steam storefront or in-game), you will be eligible to receive a free Gold Edition of Disney Infinity 3.0 later this year. The Disney Infinity 3.0 Gold Edition will allow you to enjoy all Disney Infinity 3.0 Playsets, characters, and Power Discs at no additional cost.

Please note that Gold Edition will also include necessary changes to Online Features, which will allow you to continue to play through your adventures once Disney Infinity Servers have been shut down.

For a limited time, you will be able to transfer your Disney Infinity 3.0 save progression to the new Gold Edition to ensure all your Play Set and Toy Box progress is not lost.

Our Take:

It’s great to see Disney taking a step to fix the issues for PC players, it’s just a shame this wasn’t announced ahead of its removal from Steam. A Gold edition of both games to allow fans to enjoy the playsets and more is great, since they are a lot of fun.   It also means the game can continue to be sold digitally for years to come.  Though on the same day, Disney deleted both the Twitter and YouTube accounts for the game.

What do you think of these Gold editions?
