During a Electronic Arts investor call, a sequel to Star Wars Battlefront is scheduled to be released “a year from now”, according to EA chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen, which looks to be in the fall of 2017.

“We’re working very hard on making sure that is an extremely deep and engaging offering,” Jorgensen added.

Earlier this year, EA announced that it was working on sequel to the game and that it would be coming out between April and December 2017. With Star Wars Episode VIII due to hit cinemas in December 2017, the sequel is expected to be focused on the era of Rey and Kylo Ren, rather than in the original or prequel trilogy timeline.

Star Wars Battlefront was released in November 2015 on PS4, Xbox One and PC, and sold over 14 million copies, it has also been updated with many expansion packs that have come out in 2016, with the last expansion pack, Rogue One being released in December, ahead of the new movie. There is also a Rogue One: X-Wing VR Mission coming out during the holiday season.
