Today, our friends over at Diamond Select released teaser information on a new set of Minimates being released, based off the upcoming movie Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. This new set includes returning favorites like Star Lord, Rocket Raccoon, Groot, and Gamora, while also featuring new characters from the new movie. Here are the details.
Marvel Minimates Series 71 Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Asst.
A Diamond Select Toys release! The greatest mix-tape in the galaxy is back! The unlikely team of misfits known as Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is coming back to our solar system with a new movie, and DST is marking the occasion with a new assortment of Minimates based on the film! Four new two-packs capture the main cast in 2-inch mini-figure form: Starlord pairs with Yondu, Gamora with Rocket and Groot, and two comic-shop-exclusive sets feature Ego with Ayesha and Taserface with Mantis. Each Minimate features up to 14 points of articulation and fully interchangeable parts, and each 2-pack comes in a full-color window box. You’re welcome! (Item #NOV162442, SRP: $9.99/ea.)
Now, with this teaser comes an image of the Minimates in silhouette. I am sure they need some secrecy with the artwork of the characters for the new film, and possible plot spoilers.
Now, we know that Drax is part of the new movie, as shown in the release of the first trailer. Since he is absent from this assortment, that leads me to believe that Toys ‘R’ Us or Walgreens, who have been carrying exclusive assortments of different lines of Minimates for a while now, will be getting their own assortment for this movie. At least that is my guess.
Want to add these Minimates to your collection? Entertainment Earth has them up for pre-order now, with a release of May, 2017. Get them today!
