To support awareness of National Fire Prevention Day on November 9, Shanghai Disney Resort has partnered with the Shanghai and Pudong Fire Bureaus and the Administrative Commission of Shanghai International Tourism and Resorts Zone to deliver fire prevention education to local school children and guests visiting the resort. The initiative included a screening at the resort of the special Chinese language animated educational video Disney Wild About Safety: Safety Smart® About Fire! to over 800 primary school students and their teachers, following a visit to the Disney Wild About Safety Fire Safety Fair at Disneytown. The campaign at Shanghai Disney Resort marks the fifth consecutive year for the resort to support and participate in Fire Safety Week, and the first time it is introduced to the resort guests.
“We are excited to celebrate Fire Prevention Week with all of our guests at Shanghai Disney Resort for the first time after our opening,” said Philippe Gas, general manager of Shanghai Disney Resort. “Disney is committed to being a responsible community partner and an active corporate citizen wherever we do business including here in our newest resort destination in Shanghai. Events like this help bring our creative education assets into the community, and provide opportunities to educate, engage and inspire local school children to help promote their fire safety knowledge and overall safety awareness.”
As part of the Fire Prevention Week campaign this year, the Disney Wild About Safety Fire Safety Fair kicked off early at Disneytown on November 5, to provide fire safety education and help enhance safety awareness to guests visiting this area. Beloved Disney character Timon from the hit Disney Broadway Show THE LION KING, who also plays the leading role in the Disney Wild About Safety – Safety Smart® series film, made a surprise appearance at Disneytown to meet with children in person today.
Over 800 primary school students viewed the animated educational short film, Disney Wild About Safety: Safety Smart® About Fire! and engaged in fire prevention games and activities with representatives from the resort leadership team this afternoon at The Walt Disney Grand Theatre at Shanghai Disney Resort. The film was produced by Disney Educational Productions and leverages Disney characters and storytelling capabilities to provide valuable lessons on fire prevention to the young participants.
An advanced technology fire truck which is in service at Shanghai International Tourism and Resorts Zone Fire Station made a surprise appearance at the Shanghai Disneyland Parade Grand Marshal. Through both engaging and educational interactions with children and guests visiting the Shanghai Disney Resort, the resort is increasing awareness of the importance of fire safety knowledge and in Shanghai and throughout China.
