Disney’s “Frozen” Sets Pre-Broadway Dates in Denver

Bees will buzz, kids will blow dandelion fuzz, and Frozen begins their out-of-town trial this summer. Disney’s Broadway-bound musical Frozen starts their trial in Denver, Colorado at the Denver Centre for the Performing Arts’ Buell Theatre from August 17th to October 1st, 2017. According to a press release, the musical is the “first and only incarnation of the tale that expands upon and deepens its indelible plot and themes through new songs and story material from the film’s creators”.

The story of Frozen will be told in two acts and will feature music and lyrics from Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, both of whom have previous Broadway credits with The Book of Mormon, In Transit, and Up Here, to name a few. Jennifer Lee also returns to write the book for the musical. Of course, the 2014 Academy Award Winning song, “Let It Go”, will be included in the soundtrack. As previously reported, Tony-winner Michael Grandage will direct the production and Tony-winner Christopher Gattelli, who has previously worked with Disney on Broadway, will choreograph the show.

Adding to the production team is Tony-winner Christopher Oram, who was the scenic and costume designer for Evita, six-time lighting design Tony-winner Natasha Katz, from Aladdin, Tony-nominated sound designer Peter Hylenski, who prevously worked on Motown, and Tony-winner Stephen Oremus, from Avenue Q and Wicked, will act as music supervisor to create vocal and incidental arrangements.

Disney’s Frozen will join Aladdin and The Lion King on Broadway in spring 2018 at the St. James Theatre, which will be newly renovated for the production. Disney Theatrical Productions is yet to release any casting details and official dates for the production are yet to be announced. Denver Centre season subscribers may purchase additional tickets to Frozen beginning December 12th at 10:00am with Group Tickets going on sale in February. Single tickets for the general public will be available in spring 2017. For more information, visit denvercenter.org/Frozen.
