Rogue One Dominates The Weekend Global Box Office

Once again Disney head to the top of the box office, with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, it brought in over $290 million worldwide, beating its nearest rival, “The Great Wall” starring Matt Damon by $230 million.  Disney’s Moana continued to bring in money, by bringing in $27.2 million at the Global Box office.

comScore’s Senior Media Analyst Paul Dergarabedian commented, “A strong box office force was felt around the world as Disney’s ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ opened at #1 in all markets for a massive worldwide weekend debut of $290.5 million that included $135.5 million in 54 international territories and $155 million from North America.”

Rogue One is set to continue to be a hit at the box office over the coming weeks with he holiday season in full swing.  It also hasn’t yet opened in South Korea or China.

Rogue One hasn’t been able to top last years “The Force Awakens”, but has the second highest US box office ever for a movie in December and was the third highest box office opening of the year behind Civil War and Batman Vs Superman.
