Emma’s Best & Worst Of Disney In 2017

DisKingdom team members share some of their best and worst movies, games and moments from 2016, here Entertainment Editor Emma shares her thoughts on the year.

Best Movie: This year was a strong one for Disney studios. Captain America: Civil War, Zootopia, and Finding Dory were a few of my favourites, but Moana takes the top spot. The combination of a strong story, compelling characters, beautiful animation, and fantastic music catapults Moana above the others. The traditional Disney touch that Ron Clements and John Musker added to the film brought me back to my childhood favourite, Aladdin, guaranteeing Moana will be added to my film collection.

Best Video Game: I am not much of a gamer, but I’ve really enjoyed the mobile games Disney has released. I recently downloaded Enchanted Tales and have enjoyed building my quilt with Frozen, Tangled, and Beauty and the Beast characters, but Magic Kingdoms has to be my favourite, simply because of the new updates, events, and array of characters. I loved progressing the story and unlocking new areas, characters, and attractions. I can’t wait until they release the next chapter of the story! For now, I will enjoy welcoming the rest of the Frozen characters before the event finishes!

Most Memorable Moment from the Theme Parks: As of writing, my most memorable moment hasn’t happened yet, but it is coming soon! My dream has always been to visit Magic Kingdom over the Christmas holiday and I will be doing just that this year! The addition of Christmas activities and events at Disney Springs has added to the excitement.

Worst Moment of the Year: When Disney officially announced that Tower of Terror at Disney’s California Adventure park would become Guardians of the Galaxy, I was horrified. The classic film noir feel that Tower of Terror offered made it a staple of my visits. While I classify this announcement as the worst moment, I have now come to accept the change and am actually excited to see how they create this re-vamped attraction.
