Toronto Comic Con 2017 Recap Part 1 : Joe Books Booth

Ever since Joe Books opened their doors in 2014, I was excited about the potential of seeing a bigger presence of Canadian publishers as well as a bigger presence of Disney comics  at the major Canadian convention as at the time, Disney comics had been dormant since Boom ended their deal with Disney in 2011. Nowadays, we have publishers like IDW, Papercutz and Fantagraphics producing new Disney content these days. Joe Books is the only one outside of the United States in North America to publish new Disney comics.

They have not had a presence at Canadian conventions until this years Toronto Comic Con, I found it by pure accident while strolling past the Power Rangers Entertainment One booth. They had plenty of merchandise on hand including numerous issues and trade paperbacks not available in stores including the following:

Duck Tales Cinestory Volume 2 ( At the moment a convention exclusive), Frozen #6, Cars #2,  Princess #9, Star vs the Forces of Evil Volume 1: Deep Trouble, Disney Princess Comics Collection Volume 2  and Frozen Comics Collection featuring  some of the back-up stories from past issues but is mostly a collection of new content.

Over the weekend, I told people about the booth including many Disney cosplayers who didn’t even know about the comics, in the end their merchandise sold very well. I ended up buying most of the exclusive goodies so I could review them early. Duck Tales had to be left behind since it sadly was too big for my shelf at home.
