Vacation Kingdom Know How: Mother’s Day

Photo from DisneySprings.com

As Mother’s Day is winding down, it’s been a great time to reflect on the love we have for our mothers and all that they do for us- we had to get here somehow, right?

But let’s not wait til a certain day to tell Mom how much we love her, why not celebrate it any day that you are on your next Disney trip? Here’s a few ways to share the love and not break the bank with just a short drive off property…

The Senses Spa at the Grand Floridan Resort

Give her the treatment

On Walt Disney World property, there are a few spas that you can schedule a massage or manicure and pedicure treatment for Mom to honor her. A hop, skip and jump away, you can find these services in the Orlando area for a fraction of the cost of them on WDW property. Simply search yelp for the part of town you would like to visit (Kissimee would be the closest area) and the services you are looking for. It might be a little extra effort, but it will still be nice, plus could mean an extra Mickey Premium Bar or two.

Orlando International Premium Outlets

Take her shopping (or send her solo if she prefers)

Last week, I shared the awesomeness of the Disney outlet shops, The Character Warehouse. The Simon run outlets are all over town (International Drive and Vineland) and have many stores than the Disney outlet.  The selection of retailers runs lower to high end and even have food courts and a kid’s playground at the Vineland location. Add to that the mall around town (Mall of Millenia, Florida Mall, etc.) and shopping is bountiful and convenient.

Oh, and of course, Disney Springs is chock full of fantastic shops as well! Mom is sure to find something to remind her of her trip and bring a smile to her face no matter where she decides to do her shopping.

Let her Choose

This one might be a no brainer, but everyone has their favorite attraction, character, snack or meal, even Mom. Thinking about that, let her do the picking for a bit! You may not want to ride It’s a Small World  on this trip but if she loves it, it’s worth it to see her smile.  Visiting the parks with kids or your family can be stressful as you try to accomplish everything on everyones lists, so give Mom a chance to really enjoy and soak in the WDW experience. The parks were created to be enjoyed and to make memories, so show Mom a little extra love and make her day extra special.

Do you have any other ideas on how to treat mom like the queen she is when in the Orlando area/Walt Disney World? Let me know!
