“Disney Explorers Lodge takes the experience of a hotel stay to a whole new level. Ernest also stated that this hotel investment demonstrates The Walt Disney Company’s confidence in Hong Kong as a dynamic and competitive tourism destination for many years to come.
The opening of Disney Explorers Lodge marks a milestone in Hong Kong Disneyland Resort’s development and is the first new hotel since opening. It adds to the exciting offerings at the resort that features also the Hong Kong Disneyland theme park, where guests can immerse in the most classic Disney stories alongside the latest and coolest such as the all-new Iron Man Experience. Riding on this positive momentum, more Super Hero action will be introduced from June 14 to September 3 as part of the Marvel Super Hero Summer!
“We are committed to investing in new experiences across our resort and giving guests new reasons to visit Hong Kong, ,” said Samuel Lau, executive vice president and managing director of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort. “The new Disney Explorers Lodge brings the best of our famous creativity and legendary guest service and delivers a resort hotel experience unlike anything we’ve ever created.”
Officiating the grand opening ceremony of the new hotel were Chief Executive of Hong Kong CY Leung and Permanent Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Philip Yung.
More Marvel fun on the way
Earlier this year, the all-new Iron Man Experience opened to guests and is already the most popular attraction at Hong Kong Disneyland. To elevate the Super Hero experience, Iron Man will be joined by Captain America and Spider-Man when meeting with guests! Furthermore, a brand-new walk-through experience in the Pavilion will completely immerse guests in the Marvel Universe as they go through a one-of-a-kind Avengers Agent mission in a story set uniquely in Hong Kong. Guests will also join Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Dr. Strange and Star-Lord to recover the Portal Nexus before Hydra can get their hands on it. A great variety of themed F&B items and Marvel-themed merchandise will be introduced for the summer program, including Super Hero costumes, toys and personalized products.
The resort has also announced exciting new expansion plans—that will bring the best characters and stories from The Walt Disney Company, including Marvel and Frozen, to life in ways never before seen at a Disney park. The expansion will result in Hong Kong Disneyland Resort having a dedicated Marvel-themed area featuring exciting new Marvel attractions and entertainment from one of the most popular Super Hero franchises in history, as well as an all-new Frozen-themed area where guests can experience the characters and stories from this beloved film. The “Sleeping Beauty Castle”, which is the centrepiece of the park, will undergo expansion and transformation to bring novel experiences to guests with new daytime and nighttime shows and entertainment offerings.
New adventures await at exploration-themed hotel
All Disney parks and resorts experiences are rooted in storytelling that comes to life in every aspect of the guest experience. The story behind Disney Explorers Lodge takes place in the grand era of exploration and tells of explorers who built a lodge based on their adventures around the world, adding their own artifacts and specimens gathered during their lifetime of travel. The hotel is inspired by the explorers’ travels to an African savannah, a South American rainforest, an Oceanian paradise and an area inspired by the natural beauty of Asia.
At Disney Explorers Lodge, every detail supports the story—from more than 1,000 artifacts and memorabilia on display throughout the hotel to the four distinctly themed outdoor gardens featuringAfrica, Asia, Oceania and South America. Over 170,000 plants are planted throughout the hotel, with close to 1,000 trees and plants of almost 700 species have been specially selected to immerse guests in a truly exotic environment.
Disney characters play an important part of the immersive story at Disney Explorers Lodge. Each of the four wings features an outdoor garden with a matching theme, named after an iconic Disney or Disney•Pixar character and featuring creative nods to them. They are Oceania’s Little Squirt Garden (from Finding Nemo), Asia’s Hathi Jr. Garden (from The Jungle Book), Africa’s Rafiki Garden (from The Lion King) and South America’s Kevin Garden (from Up).
Meals at Disney Explorers Lodge are sure to be as epic as exploring the hotel grounds. With three new restaurants that can altogether seat around 500 people at a time, guests can select from more than 550 dishes from either signature Chinese delights at Dragon Wind, international cuisine at the World of Color Restaurant or laid-back dining at Chart Room Cafe.
Guests can also cool off in the Rain Drop Pool’s exotic setting or find memorabilia at The Trading Post, featuring more than 20 exclusively designed items available now.
Guests staying at Disney Explorers Lodge and the other two resort hotels can now join any of the recreational activities at the three hotels. They will also receive a Priority Admission Pass for selected attractions and seat reservations for stage shows in the park. These tailored-made guest services will make the magical Disney experience with loved ones even more special.
The rooms at Disney Explorers Lodge will be priced with nightly rates between the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel and the Disney Hollywood Hotel, with a nightly standard rate from HK$2,200.
