Vacation Kingdom Know How: New for Summer Pt.2

Last week, we covered Part 1 of what’s new for summer 2017 at Walt Disney World, discussing new shows at Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. This time around, let’s look at the new land, Pandora, the World of Avatar, in Animal Kingdom.

I have not actually been to Pandora yet, but here is what I’ve gathered after reading about and discussing the land with multiple people, including being able to ask my questions on the Tom Morrow’s Mouse podcast episode dedicated to the land.

It seems to be a small land (comparative to the rest of the park) and has 2 attractions, Flight of Passage and the Na’vi River Journey, a store, bar and a restaurant.  The rides will take quite a while to get on this summer, so make sure you grab a fastpass or be prepared to wait. That’s about all I’ve got when it comes to tips for the attractions.

As far as dining, though, I can give you a great hint: online ordering.  Disney World has just begun doing online ordering, similar to how you would preorder at Be Our Guest, except when you do this method, you simply go and pick up your food, just as you would at your local Panera Bread or Starbucks. You can still walk up and order your food in Pandora at the Satu’li Canteen, but the online ordering can save a good chunk of time waiting.  To do so, just open up the My Disney Experience app and on the main screen it gives the option to order as much as your heart can handle.

I have to say, from what I’ve seen the food looks pretty yummy and the prices for entrees aren’t bad for Disney standards, plus they look pretty healthy and fresh. I’m probably more excited for the quick services food than I am the attractions in this new land (except all those weird boba balls in everything).

So there you have it…this week’s column is a little on the shorter side due to the fact my best tip is as follows: pack your patience! If you know what you’re going into, it might make things a little bit easier. Good luck!

Have you been to Pandora yet and experienced the new land? Do you have any tips that you picked up on when you visited this far off land?
