Pop! Review: Pirates of the Caribbean- Dead Men Tell No Tales

Just about two weeks ago, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales was officially released in theaters here in the US. To coincide with this release, Hot Topic stores got in their shipments of the new POTC Pop! Vinyls from Funko. Included in this new assortment is a new Jack Sparrow (with a gold variant exclusive to Hot Topic), as well as Will Turner and Captain Salazar from the new movie (there is also a Chase version of Salazar that has been elusive for a lot of us). Even so, I was able to track down the three regular releases and the gold exclusive Jack Sparrow, which I spent some time reviewing. Check out the video and then join below for more pics of each of the Pop! Vinyls.

Note: Since recording the video, I have seen the movie. No spoilers though.

I am not usually a fan of the solid color exclusive variants, but this gold statue look of Captain Jack Sparrow is great. I like the slightly weathered patina look.

Here is a turnaround look at the four of the Pop! Vinyls.

Jack Sparrow (273)

Gold Jack Sparrow (273, HT Exclusive)

Captain Salazar (274, Non-Chase)

Ghost of Will Turner (275)

Overall, while I like the line, I would have preferred expanding it to include more of the characters from the film. The POTC line always seems to be short changed with the character releases in comparison to other Disney movies in the line, like Zootopia getting an expanded line or Moana getting way too many versions of the lead character. Still, this is a nice expansion on the line, and hopefully it means we will get more in the future… perhaps tying the line into the Disney Parks rides. I would love for a Redhead Pop! Vinyl.

Did you pick up these new POTC Pop! Vinyls? What are your thoughts? Let us know below.
