Disneyland Paris EMH Changes

The EMH set up and Disneyland Paris is undergoing a major shakeup. Presumably as part of a budget saving measure EMH is dropping to one hour only – 9am to 10am encompassing both Disney Park and The Studios. This has been confirmed by the DLP website. The studios have rarely been included in EMH so the fact it’s not going to be open is a welcome development but the loss of that hour is still not great whichever way you cut it. Especially with general admittance to Main Street, and character meet and greets, at 9.30 for day guests those using the EMH perk are going to have to be quick to make best use of it.  These changes to EMH mean that guests might question the value of staying on site especially if you combine this with the lost of breakfast.

What’s Open?

ED92 is reporting that the following changes to the EMH lineup are what we can expect.

In Disneyland Park the big shake up is the slate of rides that are actually going to be open. The Carrousel, Dumbo, Peter Pan’s Flight, Mad Hatters Tea Cups and Princess Pavilion will be open. The addition of the Pavilion, in particular, is a nice touch as the lines for this can be unwieldy. But sadly this list means the loss of Buzz and Hyperspace Mountain and the restriction of EMH to Fantasyland. The loss of Hyperspace Mountain, a ride that can really rack up lines, is a shame. The rides on offer do skew younger which might mean EMH loses some of the appeal for adult visitors.

The Walt Disney Studios park does better (or worse) depending on your point of view. It gains two fan favorite rides in  Ratatouille and Crush that are sure to drag in visitors. This might mean that most guests converge on these two rides seeing fantasyland abandoned. You also have to question why Tower of Terror isn’t also open at the Studios or, for that matter, why there are only two rides on offer.

The character situation hasn’t been clarified as of yet. It would make  sense to move the characters back to the hotels in favour of main street meet and greets due to the 9.30 general admittance. That, or have far more characters on offer than they currently do.

If these are only changes for the winter months, or low occupancy months, then it makes sense. Especially given the colder weather. if this continues into the summer months then it will be interesting to see guest feedback on the new set up.

What do you guys think of the EMH changes?
