Star Wars: Episode IX Delayed To December 2019

Following the news that J.J. Abrams will be returning to write and direct Star Wars: Episode IX, Disney have also confirmed via Twitter that “Star Wars: Episode IX is scheduled for release on December 20, 2019.”

Originally Episode IX was set to be released on May 24th 2019, but with the issues with Colin Trevorrow dropping out as a director for the movie, it does make sense for the movie to be given more time, to allow J.J. Abrams time to put together the project.  Production has also moved back from starting in February to June.

This means Star Wars: Episode IX will now release on the same day as the movie version of Wicked, plus it will be out just a week behind  Wonder Woman 2 and a new version of Masters of the Universe.  It is expected that Wicked will move dates, since Universal won’t want to put a movie up against Star Wars at the box office.

With the changes in release date, it means the live action version of Aladdin will be moving forward to Memorial Day 2019.

What do you think of this delay?

Maybe Disney should release their Tim Burton directed live-action remake of Dumbo in 2021 for the 80th anniversary of the Disney animated classic of the same name!

    COME ON!

This is supposed to be a main entry in the STAR WARS saga to be released in May like some of its predecessors!
