Stan Lee Returns To Florida Megacon To Help Hurricane Victims

When Megacon Orlando posted that this year’s event in May would be the LAST Florida trip for Stan Lee, fans clamored for a chance to get a photo or an autograph. By all accounts the event was a blast with our own reporter Ryan Thompson not only meeting but also catching this impromptu meeting between Stan Lee, and J. Scott Campbell, a comic legend in his own right.

With the event done, Stan Lee fans had their last shot, or so they thought, at meeting the legendary creator.

Enter: Hurricane Irma.

The Tampa Bay Times is reporting that the recent and late addition to Megacon Tampa is to raise money for hurricane victims.

“I just want to say if there is anything I can do to help, that’s the main thing; I want to be there,” Lee, 94, said this week by phone to a Tampa Bay Times reporter. “What’s going on with the weather is so horrible and the people affected by it. I’m like a bad penny,” he said, laughing. “I keep coming back.”

He will be hosting an auction at this weekend’s Megacon Tampa (09/29 – 10/01) along with some other giant names of comics and fandom from the legendary actor William Shatner, to the stars of Netflix’s hit show Stranger Things.

Details on autographs and photos with Lee, as well as information on special fan packages are at megacontampabay.com.
