NYCC ’17 Highlight: Star Wars & Marvel at the Kotobukiya Booth

While at New York Comic Con this past weekend, I swung by the Kotobukiya booth to check out their upcoming pieces that they had on display. While there was not a lot of new items there (probably about 75% already released pieces to 25% upcoming pieces), both the Marvel and Star Wars lines had some exciting previews. Let’s check them out.

Star Wars

Probably the most exciting piece for me was the unpainted proto of the First Order Stormtrooper Executioner from the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi movie. Also on display were the new releases of Emperor Palpatine, the just released Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Luke Skywalker, all from the original trilogy. Also on hand was the popular First Order Stormtrooper from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, FN-2199 (aka “Nines”), who engaged Finn in the fan favorite “Traitor!” battle scene in the movie.

Marvel

In addition to the convention exclusive “Winter Gear” NYCC Exclusive Spider-Man being on hand, two new version of the Defenders’ Daredevil as well as larger Captain America and Spider-Man pieces were on display. Though already released, the Thanos Fine Art Statue was something to behold, and I know quite a few of my friends were excited to see concept art for the Captain Marvel Bishoujo Statue, which is slated to come out in May of next year.
