Justice League Topples Thor: Ragnarok In The Box Office

The latest global box office numbers have been revealed, with DC’s Justice League movie topping both the US and Worldwide charts.  But Disney continue to claw in cash with its Marvel Studios movie, Thor: Ragnarok, sitting as the second most popular movie of the week, bringing in over $45 million.

However Coco has slipped out of the charts following its early release in territories like Mexico, where it has become the top-grossing film of all time with $48.4 million to date, however once the movie is released in the US this upcoming week, expect it to shoot up the charts.

comScore’s Senior Media Analyst Paul Dergarabedian commented, “Warner Bros.’ presentation of DC Comics’ ‘Justice League’ tops the global box office bringing in $281.5 million in 66 territories including a $96 million number one debut in North America. In other superhero news, Disney’s ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ becomes the 9th Marvel Cinematic Universe film to cross the $700 million mark worldwide.”

However Justice League is already considered a box office failure, taking less than half of the original Avengers movie in 2012 and almost $30 million less than Thor: Ragnarok did in its opening weekend earlier this month.
