Disney Junior Music Holiday Hits Review

Disney Juniors latest compilation album, Holiday Hits, bringing together 25 tracks featuring many characters from shows on the channel like Jake the Pirate, Sofia The First, Elenor of Avalor, The Lion Guard, Vampirina, Mickey & The Roadster Racers plus many others.

This collection is only available on digital formats, either as a download on Amazon and iTunes or on streaming platforms like Spotify and DisneyLife. Many of these songs have been available previously and from many different Christmas specials that have aired on Disney Junior.

One thing that was very noticeable is how the quality of tracks really varied, since there are songs aimed at much younger listeners, that are simple and effective, while songs from franchises like Elenor of Avalor have a much higher level of quality, close to what you’d find in an animated classic like Tangled or Frozen. This is why some of favourite tracks on this album are both the tracks from Elenor of Avalon.

Some of my other favourites from this album include “Christmas in the Pridelands”, which is a fun take on a Christmas plus having Timor and Pumba in there was a nice bonus. I also liked Winterchime Day, It Doesn’t Take Much and Best Christmas Ever.

It’s very noticeable that these songs promote the idea that Christmas is all about spending time with friends and family, plus presents and food, with no mention of the religious side of Christmas. I also thought it was great that other holidays such as Navidad and Hanukkah are included in the album and I think it’s important that Disney offer these for children celebrating these events plus it informs all children about these festivals.

Overall: Disney Junior Holiday Hits is a great addition to any Christmas playlist for those with younger listeners, especially if you have a streaming subscription. It’s not the best Disney Christmas album ever for older listeners but Disney Junior fans will no doubt love it.
