hoopla digital Unveils Dynamic New eReader With Specialized Features for Picture Books and Read-Alongs
hoopla digital unveiled a dynamic new eReader with specialized features to present picture books and read-alongs. The new eReader showcases content from Disney, HarperCollins, Lerner, Charlesbridge and Britannica including picture books like Pete the Cat and Fancy Nancy and read-alongs like Olaf’s Frozen Adventure and Disney-Pixar’s Coco, which is available in English and Spanish.
“hoopla digital continues to invest in the experience we are offering our libraries and their patrons. Our new eReader shows our deep commitment to books and the experience we are creating for readers of all ages,” said Jeff Jankowski, owner and founder of hoopla digital. “We developed this eReader with feedback from librarians, patrons and publishers and created an experience that really celebrates the work of the authors and illustrators on our platform.”
Picture books on hoopla digital maintain the exact layout of graphics and text as intended by the publisher, regardless of the viewing screen. The immersive new eReader technology allows graphics to appear just as it would in a physical book. Read-alongs on hoopla are now accompanied by audio tracks synchronized with the book; text will highlight in red in-synch with the narrative audio. Read-alongs are particularly helpful for early childhood education and second language learners.
“We are excited to add these titles to hoopla’s catalog,” said Adam Silverman, Sr. Director, Digital Business Development for HarperCollins Publishers. “hoopla’s new eReader will enable a new generation of young readers to discover and enjoy our authors’ titles as they were meant to be experienced.”
Additionally, hoopla digital offers a “Kids Mode” feature, which families can use to search and access kid-friendly titles any time.
hoopla digital partners with more than 1,600 public library systems across North America to provide patrons with mobile and online access to more than 600,000 movies, TV shows, music albums, eBooks, audiobooks and comics – all available for instant streaming or downloading to smartphones, tablets, computers and Apple TV with simple access through a library card. hoopla digital partnerships include Boston Public Library, Free Library of Philadelphia, Chicago Public Library, San Francisco Public Library, Los Angeles Public Library, and Edmonton Public Library.
