James Murdoch Suggested As Possible Disney CEO
With news that the deal between Fox and Disney could happen by the end of the week, according to the Financial Times, Rupert Murdoch and his son, James could be taking on senior roles at the company if the deal is done.
There have even been reports that James Murdoch has been suggested as a potential successor to Disney CEO Bob Iger, who is set to retire in 2019. If the deal does go ahead, having James Murdoch as a senior executive role within Disney, so they can use his knowledge of the Fox assets and their global television market. “No promises have been made,” said one person briefed on the talks.
However, analyst Michael Nathanson said that “Disney is like any other company in that he would have to prove himself first. I could see him running Star, Sky and the international businesses and proving himself that way.”
Both Fox or Disney declined to comment to FT regarding this rumour.
