Are Disney Expecting Solo: A Star Wars Story To Bomb?

After the backlash of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Disney is apparently worried about their next Star Wars movie, Solo: A Star Wars Story, which is due to be released on May 25th, 2018.

The movie has already seen its original directors, Phil Miller and Chris Lord, who were replaced by Ron Howard, who has been filming lots of reshoots.  Also it had been reported by the Hollywood Reporter that Lucasfilm executives had insisted on getting a acting coach in for its lead actor Alden Ehrenreich after they saw footage as it fell far short of the standard they had been expecting.

And how a source close to the film’s production told ScreenGeek:

Disney is bracing themselves for the Han Solo movie to bomb. They were worried about it before all The Last Jedi controversy, but now they’re essentially writing Solo off. The lead actor, Alden Ehrenreich, can’t act, and they had a dialogue coach on hand for all of his scenes. On top of that, the script is unworkable. It’s going to be a car crash.

A trailer for Solo is rumored to be coming in the next few weeks, as nothing yet has been seen about this movie yet.

With Harrison Ford’s portrayal of Han Solo, it was always going to be hard for fans to accept younger versions of him plus other more well known characters like Lando.  We’ve seen it before with the prequel movies with Obi-Wan Kenobi being played by Ewan McGregor, plus viewers are much more used to new actors playing established characters.

There was lots of reports of issues with the previous Star Wars Story movie, Rogue One, which turned out to be a huge hit, both with fans and at the box office, but could the backlash to The Last Jedi impact Solo?
