What’s Going On With Fox’s Doctor Doom Movie Now?

Before it was announced that Disney would be purchasing 21st Century Fox, a movie based on the Fantastic Four’s main villain, Doctor Doom, was in development by Fargo and Legion creator Noah Hawley for Fox. While the executives as Fox have said its “Business As Usual” until the purchase has been finalized in a year to 18 months, its not yet clear what could happen to Marvel movies set to be released after this time.

Recently Collider’s Christina Radish recently spoke with Hawley at the TCA panel for Legion and asked him about the status of Doctor Doom right now, and he revealed he’s heard precisely nothing with regards to the Disney deal:

“I haven’t had a single conversation yet about Doom in the context of the merger. On some level, we’re still looking at a period of time – probably a year, at the least – for this whole thing to go through. Who knows, corporately, what conversations will be had, but certainly, until it goes through, it’s not a legal thing. I don’t know. I’ve been waiting for the phone to ring to see if anyone is gonna have an opinion. Otherwise, it’s just business as usual for me.”

Its certainly interesting to see what’s going on over at Fox, the announcement of the purchase by Disney has thrown so many things into the air and it seems like lots of details need to be ironed out.

While Fox might continue on as usual with development for this project, when Marvel finally get full control over characters like the Fantastic Four, Doctor Doom, Deadpool and the X-Men, I’m sure they will want to hit the reset button and these movies will either be canned or delayed. X-Men: Dark Phoenix, New Mutants, Deadpool and TV series like Legion 2 and Gifted series 2, have already either been created on in development already, but will we see this version of Doctor Doom on the big screen.

I’m doubtful, what do you think?
