Marvel Starts Work On A Black Widow Movie

Marvel have started work on a “Black Widow” standalone movie starring Scarlett Johansson, according to Variety, who are reporting that Jac Schaeffer is writing the script, who has previously written “The Shower” and “Nasty Women”.

The movie is still in the very early stages of development and hasn’t been greenlight by Marvel, with Marvel President Kevin Feige meeting with several candidates before deciding on  Schaeffer.  Marvel executives also met with Scarlett Johansson to discuss what they wanted from a “Black Widow” writer.

Black Widow has appeared in many Marvel movies already, including Captain America: The Winter Solider, Iron Man 2, Captain America: Civil War, The Avengers, Age of Ultron and the upcoming Infinity War.

My Take: With the success of Wonder Woman at the box office in 2017 and the amount of feedback from fans about a Black Widow movie, it would be great to see Marvel push forward with this.  Having read two Black Widows novels recently, Forever Red & Red Vengeance, there are plenty of ideas out there that would make a great movie.
