The Mighty Thor #704 Review

The Mighty Thor #704 continues the story of the Death of Jane Foster, with her lying in a hospital bed, slowly dying from Cancer, but the lure of helping people as Thor is unstoppable, even if the last transformation will kill her.

This story arc is easily one of the best currently taking place in Marvel comics and will go down as one of the greats, it’s not very often you get such a strong character shown being so frail and weak.

Seeing Odinson trying his hardest to stop the destruction at the hands of Mangog, it brutal and bloody, but also shows how much he will do anything to protect the people he loves. Yet he needs Thor to finish the job and she knows it. It’s such a overwhelming urge to her and knowing it’s the ultimate sacrifice to transform, it really puts over her strength.

The art style is gorgeous, yet it’s brutal in so many ways, first off is how they convey Odinson being thrown around and taking a beating, but it’s the haunting look of a terminally ill Jane Foster that is so striking.

Plus there are some very emotional flashback scenes involving Jane Foster with her family and Thor, which again shows how she formed such a strong personality. Throw in some great scenes with Loki and you’ve got a fantastic series.

OVERALL:

This story just keeps on delivering some of the best work from Marvel at the moment and I would seriously tell any Marvel fan to check out this story arc.
