Infinity Countdown Prime #1 Review

Infinity Countdown Prime #1 continues the build up to a new major event taking place in the Marvel universe, with this bumper issue giving us an idea of where all of the different Infinity stones are currently located and who is protecting them.

As a introduction to the story, it does a good job in setting the scene for the upcoming event and setting up the major players including Wolverine, Captain Marvel, the Guardians of the Galaxy and Ultron.  There is also another player involved, which I’m not going to spoil, but lets just say the cover is a little bit of a tease.

Another cool part of this issue, is that it nicely fits in with the events of the Adam Warlock Prime issue from earlier this month, which worked very well.

I also loved how they brought Loki into the story and his interaction with Wolverine, which is also pretty brutal.  The inclusion of Ultron/Hank Pym was also an interesting addition as a possible villain.

This issue also comes with many pages giving fans details on the history of the Infinity Stones, which is a nice little addition to give readers an idea into why they are so important.

OVERALL:

This is a great introduction to the upcoming Infinity Countdown event, it sets the tone, places the characters and gives a history lesson on the stones.  I really enjoyed this issue, though I’m not sure the extra charge for the history lesson at the end is warranted.
