Lockjaw #1 Review
Marvel have kicked off a new series based on the Inhumans pet dog, Lockjaw, who is enormous and can teleport. This story sees us follow Lockjaw jumping from location (mainly for food), like I’m sure all dogs who could, would do.
The Inhumans have never been a series or set of characters I tended to follow, but Lockjaw is a fun sidekick and this seems to have a fun way of showing off his good side.
We also see them bringing in Demolition Man (D-Man) into the story, which is an interesting take, since he is a character I wasn’t aware of and how they instantly brought the character up to date with the writers explaining that he is gay by showing his partner leaving him and him being down on his luck. I thought this very well done and a perfectly natural way of presenting it in this story.
Lockjaw is also represented very well in this issue, he is a lovable and cute dog, which is shown off with his slobbery tongue and big eyes. Which goes along with the whole theme of the series.
OVERALL:
Lockjaw is a breathe of fresh air, with so many major comics being so serious, it’s nice to see something a little light hearted and funny in places. If you want to try something a little less intense and more “Saturday Morning Cartoon”, give it a try.
