Incredibles 2: The Official Guide Review

As someone who appreciates DK’s “Disney: The Ultimate Visual Guide”, I was moderately surprised by “Incredibles 2: The Official Guide”. They may have the same publisher and similar names, but they’re entirely different animals.

If you’re a tween or younger, this’ll probably be a fun diversion. Any older, and it’s underwhelming.

Don’t get me wrong, this is a wonderfully design book, with great screenshots and a smattering of concept art from the film. But it’s written entirely in-universe, and a lot of the content is magazine-like: listicles, personality tests, info bubbles, and so on.

Fair warning: don’t read this book before seeing the movie. While it doesn’t have explicit spoilers about the movie’s plot, it drops one heavy hint, and spoils two secondary plot lines.

At $9.99 American, $12.99 Canadian, this hard cover book is cheaper than many magazine on the newsstands today. Is it something that would be read more than once? Maybe. It’s strong, but of limited appeal beyond kids.
