Jungle Cruise And Dwayne Johnson

So, we have some more Disney movies. And now we may have another adapation on our hands that is either going to be really bad or really funny.

Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt are going to star in an adaptation of Jungle Cruise, based on the ride. He’ll be a badass tour guide and she’ll be a scientist searching for the tree of life. They butt heads because he’s tall and cool and she’s stiff and British.

Okay. Maybe this could be good. Or it could be terrible!

A Ride Without A Story

My big issue is that the Jungle Cruise has no story. It is literally a cruise. A guide takes you on a river ride to see animatronic animals and natives that are on the attack. Zebras and tigers exit on the same continent, which does drive the suspension of disbelief a little. Walt Disney wanted to use real animals, but they would fall asleep all the time.

This is a blatant money grab, and it’s kinda racist at that. I love Dwayne Johnson’s acting, and we have seen him in jungle movies, but I am skeptical. And a bit disappointed that a cancelled ride like ExtaTerrorestrial Encounter didn’t get the green light. Aliens in corporations are totally my jam!

So adding a story may be a bit iffy. You have to skip over the angry natives part. But maybe Dwayne Johnson can make up for it. He is charismatic and can be really funny. Perhaps he and Emily will bounce off each other and make the CGI watchable.

I’m not sure. It depends how seriously the movie takes itself. But I hope it’s fun. Because we are in need of a good Disney ride movie if they are going to do it again.

Let’s see where the Jungle takes us. Please let it be a good movie.
