“The Art of Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge” Book Announced

The Art of Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge is on its way to a bookshelf near you, according to a Comic-Con @ Home panel, released today.

The title and cover art was revealed at the panel “Lucasfilm Publishing: Stories From a Galaxy Far, Far Away.”

This is taking a deep-dive into the art and concept creation for the themed lands at Disney World and Disneyland. So this is going to be a look at everything from the design of the buildings, to the design of the characters, the design of the costumes.

The book was written by Amy Ratcliffe, whose book Star Wars: the Jedi Mind: Secrets from the Force for Balance and Peace will be released in November by Chronicle Books. She profiled 75 characters from the saga in the 2018 book Star Wars: Women of the Galaxy. She has written for various websites including Nerdist and StarWars.com, and co-hosts the podcast Lattes with Leia.

Galaxy’s Edge was announced in August 2015 at the D23 Expo, with the intensive construction at both Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios spanning three years.

Scott Trowbridge, Galaxy Edge’s supervising Imagineer, wrote the introduction to the book.

The 256-page hardcover book includes 300 images. It will be released April 27, 2021, and cost $50.

Publisher ABRAMS, which specializes in books on art and illustration, had previously announced The Art of The Mandalorian, to be released on December 1, 2020.
