LEGO Ideas Announce that 4 Disney, Fox Proposals Move On
Today, the LEGO Ideas program has just confirmed that four Disney or Fox related set proposals will be considered for release, in this half of 2020. Up, Ratatouille, Hocus Pocus, and Night at the Museum all feature in the newest round of competitors.
Anyone can propose a new LEGO set on the company’s website. If 10,000 people vote in support for a set, its formally considered by the toymaker’s staff.
Back in May, a record 26 ideas received that level of support, but this newest round shatters that, with 35 qualified. That means steep odds against any of these projects coming true. In the last round, Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Indiana Jones trilogy, Ratatouille, and Home Alone projects received 10,000 votes, but only the latter two made it to the final round of consideration. The Home Alone set was approved for production.
Of the four projects, the most interesting is perhaps the Ratatouille. Yes, while LEGO passed on the first model, the same creators designed a new playset with less pieces. This new design reached the 10,000 supporter mark on September 4, just three days ahead of the cut-off date and just a few months after being submitted. Nothing short of meteoric. There really seems to be a groundswell of support for this set.
The qualifying ideas include:
House from Up by bramant1
Night At The Museum by CARLIERTI
Hocus Pocus – Sanderson Sisters’ Cottage by TheAmbrinator
Ratatouille: ReOpen The Doors! by BRICK PROJECT
