WDW 50th Anniversary Highlight: Disney Fab 50 Character Sculptures
When I was down at Walt Disney World earlier this month, one of the most exciting things for me was the Disney Fab 50 Character Collection of golden sculptures that were added to the four theme parks in celebration of the resort’s 50th Anniversary. Consisting of 36 sculptures featuring 50 fan favorite characters spanning the Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars franchises. While most of the sculptures are easier to find, a few are a bit more tricky to locate, especially at Magic Kingdom. I was able to eventually track down all 36 of the sculptures… only needing a hint from Cast Members for one of them. Which one? Next time you’re there, see if you can figure it out.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
I started my search at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, which features seven characters on four sculptures.
Epcot
Next stop was Epcot. Nine characters on six sculptures, with Figment being sneaky and not located with the rest of the crew.
With two parks down, I would like to say that I love that the sculptures are perched on top of rose-gold colored pedestals… well, for the most part (you will see what I mean). The iridescence of the pedestals balances the shininess of the sculptures perfectly.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
A short Disney’s Skyliner trip away from Epcot found me at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, where there are seven sculptures showcasing nine characters.
Magic Kingdom
Last up, the Magic Kingdom. This is where the majority of the characters and scluptures are located.
Let’s check out the Elite Eight first, which are the easiest to find in the Hub in front of Cinderella Castle.
After that… well, it’s a bit of a crap shoot on where the rest of the sculptures are located. Some you can probably figure out from my pictures. Others? Well, enjoy!
The final sculpture is the only one that is in a location where you can get up close and personal with, without any actual barriers or height discrepencies.
Well, there you have it. 36 sculptures featuring 50 characters. From the classic to the modern (including two “Park Stars”), spanning four different franchises. All of these sculptures are beautiful, and I enjoyed the hunt.
The Disney Fab 50 Character Collection will be up for at least the 18 month 50th Anniversary celebration at Walt Disney World, which runs through April, 2023. When you visit the parks next, make sure you find them all.
