Minnie starring in Little Women? 5 Fave New Disney and Marvel Books This Week

What if Minnie Mouse starred in the classic novel Little Women? A what if it was actually a picture book for kindergarteners, and included stickers? The unlikely pitch comes true this week, with the March cousins’ story adapted to be totally Minnie.

Here’s our five fav Disney and Marvel book titles being released during the week of October 16 to 22, 2022.

In Disney Minnie Mouse: Little Women, Minnie Mouse stars as Jo, and Daisy as Amy. Clarabelle Cow is also a sister, but it’s unclear whether she’s Meg or Beth from promotional text. Marriage, Mr. Laurence, it sounds like author Grace Baranowski has been able to condense the entire story into just 32 pages. The book is from Studio Fun International, and costs $4.99.

Kudos to whoever greenlit this, I hope to see a whole series of classic tales, a Classics Illustrated or Wishbone for a new generation.

It’s interesting to see how much Spotify, YouTube, and all the other music streaming services have permutated into what makes music a success these days. This song book selects the 40 Most-Streamed Disney Songs, and provides the guitar tabs for them.

The title is a bit of a misnomer: these forty are likely the top streamed songs from animated feature films. YouTube’s most streamed song from Pocahontas is “Colors of the Wind” with 85 million views, where ZOMBIES track “Someday” has 175 million listens on the same platform, and was topped by ZOMBIES 2 “Flesh & Bone” with 222 million.

None of this to reign on the book’s parade, it’s a neat concept. It’s $28.98 for 144 pages.

The Aristokittens book series is back with a new book, where the trio’s secret café for animals hosts The Fantastic Rabbit Race, in a story about fair play.

Author Jennifer Castle has some legit creds to her name, including a American Library Association’s Best Fiction for Young Adults selection. Sydney Hanson’s illustrations expertly walk the tightrope between unique storybook flare and instantly recognizable.

Amazon claims this book is for kids in kindergarten through grade 3, yet it has 128 pages. I presume they mean that it’s appropriate to read to five year olds, because that’s some serious reading. From Disney Press, the title sells for $5.69 on Amazon.

Coming in at 912 pages, Black Panther: The Early Years provides a look at the origins of the King of Wakanda. The book includes:

Fantastic Four (1961) 52-53, 56, 119; Captain America (1968) 100; Avengers (1963) 52, 62, 73-74, 77-79, 87, 112, 126; Daredevil (1964) 52, 69; Daredevil Annual (1967) 4; Marvel Team-Up (1972) 20; Jungle Action (1972) 6-24; material from Fantastic Four (1961) 54; Tales of Suspense (1959) 97-99, Astonishing Tales (1970) 6-7

The hardcover has a list price of $125, $101.99 on Amazon, while the Kindle and Comixology editions are $39.99.

Back in 1971, Marvel Comics and Third Eye, Inc. printed a set of 24 posters with fluorescent inks. Designed to glow under black light, this new set comes in an archival box with a brief history of the posters and source art by historian and former Marvel editor in chief Roy Thomas.

Campy cool, Classic Black Light Posters Volume 2 completes a set initially released in October 2021. There’s a serious price tag, though: $125 for these 20 x 30 inch images.
