Exploring the Biology of Super Heroes: 4 Fave Marvel and Star Wars Books This Week, October 23-29

With the holidays approaching, the book market is brimming with options. This week, October 23 to 29, Star Wars and Marvel get their own list of favourites.

Ashley Eckstein has parlayed her voice acting role as Ahsoka Tano into becoming one of the more omnipresent Disney personalities. Her latest is editing Star Wars Everyday: A Year of Activities, Recipes & Crafts from a Galaxy Far, Far Away. Insight Editions, 192 pages, list price $39.99, Amazon price $35.49.

If you want to know what makes your favourite Marvel heroes and villains really tick, look no further. Marvel Anatomy: A Scientific Study of the Superhuman is based around the premise that King T’Challa and Shuri are researching the various supers amid during an Earth infiltration by Skrull forces.

The book’s over 100 anatomical cutaways of 60 characters are original illustrations, by Skyrim and Fallout concept artist Jonah Lobe.

Expect diagram captions like “oily secretions in Red Hulk’s perspiration facilitate ignition while protecting the epidermis.”

Richard Woloski has interviewed the creative minds behind Star Wars on his podcast, Skywalking Through Neverland. Today in Star Wars History Part 2: July through December takes a look at the minutiae and momentous, all organized by the day of the year it took place. Many of the photos of cast and other things are by the author and his colleagues at events over the decades.

Current up to the release of Andor, this 288 page volume is on Amazon for $48.53.

Finally, Titan is releasing Marvel’s Fantastic Four: The First 60 Years on Tuesday. Pretty straight forward premise, with the publisher promising lavish illustration. It’s sold for $24.99.
