LEGO Ideas considers Up, Nightmare Before Christmas designs

Will we be able to buy Up or The Nightmare Before Christmas LEGO sets soon? Perhaps, depending on what the team at LEGO decides. Sets based on both Disney film releases have received 10,000 votes of support from LEGO fans, qualifying them for the latest round LEGO Ideas consideration.

If the Up proposal seems familiar, you’re half right. A different, simpler design qualified in September 2020.

Thrice annually proposals with 10,000 votes move on for further consideration. With more and more sets gaining support, there’s an increasingly slim chance of moving into production. Previously, a set based on Winnie the Pooh was granted production, and DisKingdom’s Travis D reviewed it.

Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Indiana Jones, and Ratatouille were rejected in the first round of 2020, but Home Alone was produced. Up, a different Ratatouille set, Hocus Pocus, and Night and the Museum were rejected in the second round of the year. Avatar and Gravity Falls failed to move on from the third 2020 review.

The LEGO Ideas process perhaps reached peak frustration, when the dwarves’ cottage from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was rejected for a second time, despite the company even holding over the second iteration for further review.
