Star of Disney Movie Among Items at Planet Hollywood Auction

Have you ever wanted to live with a Disney movie star? If you have at least $1000, you can make that dream a reality.

Restaurant chain Planet Hollywood has been reduced to just three locations worldwide: Los Angeles International Airport, Disney Springs, and Times Square. (It does, however, have four resorts internationally including Las Vegas.) Far from their historic peak, they’re selling off hundreds artifacts from features of days gone by, through Heritage Auctions.

Among them? A mechanical dog head from 1976 Walt Disney film The Shaggy D.A., a mix of metal, resin, faux hair, and other materials. According to the listing, it was used for close-ups of the dog speaking and reacting, and its hydraulic mechanism and wiring hasn’t been tested.

Other Disney items include Brendan Fraser’s loincloth from George of the Jungle (1997), Miley Cyrus’ dress from Hannah Montana: The Movie (2009), a character puppet of Mr. Hyde from The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993), and overalls from Honey, I Blew Up the Kid (1992). There’s both Winnifred’s book of spells and Sarah Sanderson’s dress from Hocus Pocus (1993), too.

Note, the Rocketeer’s helmet from The Rocketeer and Daryl Hannah’s tale from Splash are replicas, but clearly labelled as such.
