Disney Store’s Underappreciated Trivia YouTube Series
Disney UK’s YouTube channel is honestly pretty neat, for the regional channel of a international company. Around the world, Disney has tons of local social media accounts, but they tend to just repost trailers with the different release dates or dubbing. But Britain’s YouTube brings some pretty great stuff to the table, original, fun content.
Some point in the future, I should share my love for their recent travelogue mini-series, Mapping the Magic. But today’s ode is to The Line King, a game show format where Disney Store shoppers are stopped on the way to the till, and can win their basket of products. They first have to answer all four questions, correctly, then have 30 seconds to hunt through the store while it’s open to the public, to find a specific plush toy.
It’s basically a mashup of:
- Cash Cab, a show where contestants are expecting to just take a trip, but suddenly put in the hot seat, and
- Supermarket Sweep, where contestants have to run through a store looking for a specific product,
- with the stakes of very few trivia game shows, in that one wrong answer ends your game, and there’s no multiple choice.
The host in the latest episode posted Saturday, Scarlett Moffatt, is a TV presented and frequent reality show contestant in the United Kingdom, as well as a “Disney mega fan.” Because of the landmark nature of London (and the lack of retail outlets for Disney Store in much of the country), contestants are from throughout the nation, as well as occasional international entrants.
Bravo, Disney UK, for posting creative content.
