Pop! Review: Disney’s “Dancing” Princesses Series 2
For today’s review, I take a look at the second series in what some of us are deeming the “Dancing” Disney Pop! Princesses from Funko. These redesigns of popular Disney Princesses in Pop! form feature a more flowing appearance to their dresses, as if they were in the midst of dancing. The first series featured Ariel, Tiana, Belle, Rapunzel, and Cinderella, along with their various variants. Series 2 features Aurora, Mulan, Merida, and Jasmine. Additionally, Aurora has both a blue dress Chase (not featured, as I have not lucked out in finding the chase) as well as a Books-A-Million exclusive glittery dress variant.
NOTE: I would also consider the Hot Topic Diamond Edition version of Snow White to be part of this series, simply because it is a new mold for Snow White. However, we have yet to see that mold released in a non-diamond version.
Also of note: most of these releases (with the exception of Jasmine) came with an advertisement for the Disney Treasures Funko Subscription Service. I recently shared my review on the recent Snowflake Mountain themed month, which has had a mixed response.
Okay, let’s take a closer look at the releases.
Overall, I really like the continuation of this design for the Disney Princesses. The previous molds were quite static, and these new molds breathe a new life into the characters. My favorite in this series is Merida, followed by Mulan. However, for me they all pale to the Rapunzel design from the first series.
