Canada: Temporary closures of five Disney Stores, Marvel Avengers attraction
As Canada goes through its second wave of the pandemic, two areas of the country are locking down, closing non-essential services. Not surprisingly, The Disney Store and Marvel Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. are on those lists, so naturally, we’ve got the details.
Disney Stores in Winnipeg, Toronto, Peel
Disney Stores in Canada reopened in mid-July, a few weeks after local authorities gave malls permission in all jurisdictions.
Winnipeg, Manitoba’s Polo Park Shopping Centre was the first to close again, beginning on November 12.
It was followed by locations in Peel and Toronto, Ontario, as those jurisdictions entered the tightest restrictions in months, with only essential services allowed to be open. Locations in Mississauga’s Square One Shopping Centre, and Toronto’s Scarborough Town Centre, Toronto Eaton Centre, and Yorkdale Shopping Centre will all be closed as of Monday, November 23, until at least December 21.
We’re waiting on word as to whether any of the Disney Stores will offer curbside pickup. Just a day before closure, the store appears on none of the mall’s curbside pickup listings.
Marvel Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N.
There was similar news for Marvel Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. Canada, the touring interactive experience. They posted on Facebook that “Keeping our city safe is our top priority,” noting that “all tickets will be rescheduled once a reopening date can be confirmed. In the unlikely event of a permanent shutdown, all tickets will be fully refunded.”
The S.T.A.T.I.O.N. opened to the public on November 20, giving it just three days of operation. It was operating at 15% capacity, to meet distancing guidelines.
The attraction is looking to launch an online sales platform “as fast as possible,” in order to offer curbside pickup for their gift shop.
