World’s Biggest Star Wars Collection Toured
“Even though I’ve been hearing about this place for decades, I was unprepared for the scope.” That’s high praise from nerd king Adam Savage, on his first ever visit to the largest Star Wars collection in the world, Rancho Obi-Wan.
Best known for Mythbusters, Savage was an employee of Lucasfilm’s Industrial Light and Magic, working on the first two prequels. The collection is displayed in retrofitted chicken coops, a mix of official products and fan-made artworks.
For Empire Strikes Back, the production built a full-sized Millennium Falcon in a shipyard. Sansweet landed the plastic model used for building that structure, in great condition. One of the odder items shown was a bread sculpture of Yaddle, made for the wrap party of Tales of the Empire.
Well worth a watch.
Five collectors with four collections are considering combining collections, to make a new, public museum somewhere in the United States.
