Disney Channel Favourite Returns After Four Year Hiatus

A classic Disney Channel series is back today after a four year hibernation.

Millennials will remember the Disney Movie Surfers series popping up during commercial breaks, between shows like Even Stevens and Lizzie McGuire. The series debuted in 1997, and continued with fairly good frequency until 2018. It was revived for one episode in 2021, for Jungle Cruise, and hasn’t been heard from since.

Now, YouTubers the Merrell Twins are the new hosts of Disney Movie Surfers, starting with an episode about Freakier Friday.

In the episode, the hosts start by rewatching the original movie’s 1998 episode with Lindsey Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis, before chatting about the sequel. They later meet up with Julia Butters and Sophia Hammons, who play rivals in the new film.

The upload description suggests this may not be the last we hear of Movie Surfers: it says to subscribe to the Disney YouTube “for new Movie Surfers episodes coming soon.”
