Sallah Coming to Canadian Fan Convention

Larger-than-life actor of stage and screen John Rhys-Davies is newly announced for the guest list of Fan Expo Canada.

He’s best known as Sallah in Lucasfilm’s Indiana Jones franchise, and Gimli in The Lord of the Rings films. Other Disney credits include Mickey Mouse Works, Aladdin and the King of Thieves, The Lion Guard, and Gargoyles: The Goliath Chronicles.

The event runs this year from August 27 to 30.

Rhys-Davies was interviewed on the podcast Toon’d In with Jim Cummings, at MegaCon Orlando, a sister event of Fan Expo Canada. An energetic storyteller, Rhys-Davies plods the stage, sharing his passion.

He’s amusingly direct during the ham-handed way to form a linkage between the two. Discussing The Jungle Book 2, the podcast producer shares “you played Ranjan’s father. Do you remember that?” “No.” Quizzed on being the narrator for Boo to You Too! Winnie the Pooh, “yes, of course I do,” with a roll of the eyes.

While the convention itself hasn’t announced Jim as a guest this year, he’s shared on his webpage his attendance and he’s making the complete circuit of Informa-owned events, talking to guests for his show at each stop. In Calgary, he spoke with Erica Durance of Smallville fame.
