Disney Infinity at Blogger Bash’s Sweet Suite 2014

This past Thursday, I made my way down for the start of Blogger Bash, a two day event dedicated to bloggers. Mainly geared to the mommy bloggers out there, the reason I got my ticket and headed down for their big event, called Sweet Suite, was to catch up with John Vignocchi (JV) and the Disney Infinity team, who just the day before revealed Stitch and Tinkerbell as new addition to the Disney Infinity 2.0 Toy Box. Promising some game play and other surprises, JV convinced me that the night would be worth me getting a ticket to the event… and he delivered.

Probably the best thing was that JV was playing in an almost complete build of the Toy Box, which meant he could show me things that I have never seen before. Sadly, since it wasn’t all approved to show, there are things that I cannot share with you all. Also, there was no video or screenshots of the actual game footage. That being said, we did have some fun exploring the Toy Box throughout the night. Here are some highlights I can share, along with pictures of the figures at the demo.

Maleficent Game Play

Okay, I will say that Maleficent in the Toy Box is amazing. Since her powers were fully unlocked, I saw her fly (her wings make this awesome sound when in flight), summon vines, put enemies in the hover-sleep mode, and in general just eviscerate enemies with her spell magic. She will be a very powerful figure in the game. NOTE: They sent Angelina Jolie (Jolificent) a copy of the figure to show her what it looked like, and it ended up in a million pieces… I guess her kids got a hold of it and had a little too much fun with it.

Stitch Game Play

Now, I got to see Tinkerbell in the Toy Box for a little bit, but JV was really excited to show off some of Stitch’s moves, so a lot of time was spent with him. Stitch’s Demolition Ball move it great, as he just bowls over the enemies. His wall crawl ability is spot on to that of the movie, and the detail of the moving shadow of the character is great. Stitch totes his own guns, which are upgradable, eventually resulting in a super move where the four fired gun blasts combine to make a powerful explosive. impressive indeed.

Trailer Assets Confirmed

JV was able to confirm a couple of toys seen in the most resent Stitch/ Tinkerbell trailer and their origin. First up is the motorcycle/ sidecar seen driven by Stitch. That is from Bedknobs and Broomsticks, just like the flying bed (which “plays the music you want it to play” according to JV… I would love it if it played “Portobello Road”, but it’s probably “The Beautiful Briny” as it fits that best in the movie). Next we have a fish that Stitch throws at Davy Jones after Jones yells “Summon the Kraken!”… yup, that’s Lew Zealand’s Boomerang Fish move.

Also of note, the Lion King Skydome carries with it the actual “Circle of Life” song, not just an elevator music version of it. JV believes it actually plays through most of, if not the entire, song.

New Characters Builders

I did get an extensive look as some of the character builders in the 2.0 Toy Box. There are a lot more than I originally thought based on the E3 demo I saw. They do take more time to build stuff, rather than a one shot deal with a creator. However, they interact with one another. So, for example, if you place a Lost Boy and Terk down in the same area and they interact with one another while building, you very well might see a rail system intertwined into your treehouse.

Here is a list of which ones I saw in this version of the Toy Box, and what they create, if known.

Dwarf (Snow White)- Cottage Builder     –     Mr. Gibbs (Pirates of the Caribbean)- Pirate Town Builder

Lost Boy (Peter Pan)- Treehouse Builder     –     King Fergus (Brave)- DunBroch Castle Builder

Terk (Tarzan)- Rail Builder     –     Louis Robinson (Meet the Robinsons)- ???

Tigger (Winnie the Pooh)- Platform Builder     –     Eve (Wall-E)- Forest Builder

Fix-It Felix Jr. (Wreck-It Ralph)- City Builder     –     Sultan (Aladdin)- Agrabah Marketplace Builder

NOTE: I noticed that the Grand Duke (Cinderella), who was a castle builder in the previous demo, does not appear in this version. JV did not know why, possibly because they now have Fergus.

Toy Box Creators

I saw some of the creators in play, and they are pretty awesome. The ease of mapping out and area and instantly having a terrain block to work off of is great. JV literally set up an island with two different castles on it in a matter of two minutes, which would be perfect for a game of paintball between friends. And it’s not like every castle built looks the same. Each one will look different, and allows you to go in after and edit out parts that you don’t want or add stuff you want. There were a lot of creators, including Castle, Pirate Town, City, Racetrack, and Platform.

Game Templates

I know I briefly mentioned them before, but the game templates are awesome. it saves people like me who are logic-toy challenged and let’s me inserts small games into my Toy Box. JV placed the Pinball Template into the Toy Box and started playing it. What’s awesome is the the buttons get remapped and the camera angles change, so you are not longer the character, per say, but playing the game as yourself. In this instance, the Right and Left Shoulder buttons on the PS4 controller were the flippers in the pinball game. JV said that Toy Box Artists can use this button remapping ability in their creations. He gave an example of a game where Player 1 had to navigate a maze, and Player 2 had the ability to activate spikes with the press of a button. I am sure it’s beyond my ability (a lot is when it comes to gaming), but it sounds awesome.

Double Trouble...

SONY PS3/ PS4 Disney Infinity 2.0 Collectors Edition

Speaking of the PS4, JV showed me a picture of the grey scale prototype for the Collector’s Edition base… and the things is MASSIVE, and amazing. For people on the fence about getting it, you should. I do not think you will regret it.

As far as information on pricing and availability, there WILL be more information on that next week leading up to SDCC, so stay tuned.

Now THIS is the Stitch I wanted to take home. :)

Disney Infinity 2.0 Marvel Super Heroes Release Date

I was informed during the event that the official release date for the Marvel Super Heroes will be revealed during SDCC next week, as well as more fun stuff EVERY DAY. We will have one of our friends, Sarah, down there covering as much as she can for Infinity and Beyond, and the admins will be scouring the nether regions of the internet to bring you all of the news from the convention.

JV and I at Blogger Bash.

And that concludes what I can share with you from Blogger Bash. It was a great time seeing JV, as always. Attendees to the show each got a Tinkerbell Sweet Suite Preview Edition figure, and JV was able to snag for me a Stitch. Both of them will be coming with me to Walt Disney World next week for a massive photo shoot I am doing for both Infinity and Beyond and PopVinyls.com, our sister site celebrating Funko Pop! Vinyls and other popular toy collectibles. Stay tuned for pics from that the beginning of August.
