A Tribute To Disneyland

Today, I’m writing about the Disneyland Park and resort.  This park officially opened to the public on July 17th 1955, and the original ticket price was only $1.  Disneyland has a special place in all of our hearts, and today I’m writing a tribute to Disneyland Park and Resort.

The Disneyland Resort spreads across 160 acres of Anaheim land, and building of the park began in 1954 after many months of planning.  When Disneyland opened, it had a total of only 18 attractions spread out across the 5 lands.  An interesting fact about when the park opened was that some people actually counterfeited tickets, and over 28,000 people showed up to the opening day of Disneyland.

Disneyland was created so that parents could have fun with there children, not just sitting on a bench watching.  Walt got the idea of of Disneyland sitting on a bench in a park.  However, little did Walt know that the park would take off the way it did.

One reason why many people prefer Disneyland over Disneyworld or the international parks is because this was the only park that Walt set foot in.  While Walt did help design Disney World, he passed away just 5 years before the Magic Kingdom in Orlando, Florida opened.  Disneyland has that perfect sense of originality that no other park in the world has.

Ever since Disneyland Park, and the Disneyland Resort opened, the property has kept on expanding.  There have been new additions to the Disneyland Park, Disneyland Resort, and even a new park (California Adventure) and 2 new hotels (Grand Californian and Paradise Pier).  The California Adventure park focuses on the beauty of California, and the Grand Californian Hotel has a special entrance to the park too.

In 2015, Disneyland celebrated the 60th anniversary of the park.  In honor of the 60th anniversary, the castle became crystalized, and there was blue and silver as far as the eye could see.  To top that off, they added a new parade (Paint The Night Parade) and a new firework show.  The decor for the 60th anniversary will be up until September.

Sometimes I hear the castle is too small, and I just laugh.  What many people don’t realize, is that Walt wanted you to enter the park and see everything when you entered but not from outside the park.  Basically, Walt wanted you to feel the magic when you entered.  This I feel makes the park 1,000,000x more magical.

Im writing this because sometimes I feel that Disneyland is shadowed by Disney World, and I think that Disneyland doesn’t get enough recognition.  Disneyland has a special place in my heart, and I hope it does in yours too.  I first went to Disneyland over the Summer of 2015, and it was the most magical experience I’ve ever experienced.  Thank you Disneyland for providing a fun, magical, and safe place for everyone of every age.
