Wolverine Was Planned With A Hard “R”

With the success of Deadpool and it’s R rating, the joke around the nerd community is all superhero movies will be pushing for an R rating. Hell, WB has already declared that Batman V Superman will have a rated R director’s cut released on DVD/BluRay. So it should really come as no surprise that the last film in the Wolverine series will be, rated R. As it turns out however, the movie was always planned to have an R Rating. You can even see some evidence in that with last year’s teaser poster where one of Wolverine’s claws is substituting for a middle finger. Deadpool’s success most likely convinced the studios that it was indeed a viable route to go.

And an R rating is what Wolverine deserves. If you take Wolverine out of the X-men series of comics and look at his solo stuff, it is filled with tragedy and death. Marvel released a infographic of various characters and their kill counts a few years back and of course Wolverine took the win. He is the best there is at what he does. And what he does is kill. Plus with the rumors of Liev Schreiber reprising his role of Sabertooth and that the film will be based on the popular Old Man Logan story, an R rating is a must.
