Could A Wreck It Ralph VR Experience Replace Stitch’s Great Escape?

According to rumours, it looks like the Stitch’s Great Escape at the Magic Kingdom could be removed and replaced with a new Wreck It Ralph Virtual Reality experience, which would recreate the racing game “Sugar Rush”.  According to Disney theme park insider Jim Hill who was speaking on the latest Unofficial Guide’s Disney Dish podcast, this rumour is suggesting that the two theatres would be gutted.

With Virtual Reality becoming much more accessible for companies with sets like HTC Vive, PlayStation VR and Oculus Rift coming to homes this year, Virtual Reality has been getting a lot of attention from technology and gaming companies.  Many theme parks have been adding VR attractions and allowing guests to experience something new would be great.

Stitch’s Great Escape has generally been considered one of the least popular attractions at the park and the new experience would see guests sitting in simulators with the headset on, playing a three to four minute racing game against between 25 and 32 other players, who would all be in one room.    So Disney would need to have lots of rooms to have the capacity to cope with the amount of guests, plus getting the headsets on guests would be a time consuming activity.

This attraction could also allow for personalisation like we’ve already seen in Test Track and could also feature difference races, similar to Star Tours, though all of this is speculation.

As someone who loves video games, this would be a good fit for Wreck It Ralph and with the sequel hitting cinemas in 2018, however it could date pretty quickly as VR is moving forward at a incredible pace, but updates and adjustments could take place pretty easily to keep things updated with new software.

What do you think of a Wreck It Ralph VR experience?
