New Video Answers “Who designs Disney park costumes?”

YouTube channel Keeping the Magic Alive has released a new video about the costumes at Disney Parks, and it’s so jam packed with content, you’ll need to watch it at least twice to soak it all in!

The video dives into the under appreciated work of Alyja Kalinich, whose costume design work was seen at Disney Parks from opening day in 1971, until recent years, retiring with Tangled parade outfits.

In eight minutes, we see everything from monorail hostess to a dinosaur in Disneyland’s web famous The World According to Goofy Parade. It also touches on some of the challenges of designing for technicalities like flying on stage, or appearances in daylight, on stage, or during Disneyland’s Electrical Parade.

Dubbed a “Disney archaeologist,” Scott Wolf created the 8 minute short. While I greatly appreciate about his works is that he always seems to find a unique take on the topic. Many times, that’s thanks to personal interviews with the key creatives over the decades. In such a saturated field, his content feels fresh.

Give the channel a try, you won’t be disappointed.
